Cardinal’s Booming Past
A landmark in the Cardinal area, Sainte-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church stands as a fine example of ecclesiastical architecture in the French and Québécois classical tradition, distinguished by its symmetry, spacious nave, and formal tower. The wooden structure also reflects the deep pride and dedication of its parishioners—individuals who, eager to establish their own identity and confident in their community’s future, persevered through the challenges of fundraising and construction. In doing so, they broke with tradition by choosing to worship locally rather than continue attending mass in nearby Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. In 2025, with support from the Manitoba Heritage Grants Program, the Cardinal Church Museum installed several signs showcasing the village’s most notable historic locations.
